Amazing Works of Scientific Glassblower Hans Godo Frabel

Hans Godo Frabel was born in Jena, East Germany in 1941. After World War II, his family shifted to Wertheim in West Germany and thereafter, to Mainz am Rhein, a large city in West Germany. At the age of 15 his father enrolled him as a trainee scientific glassblower at the renowned Jena Glaswerke , Mainz, West Germany. There after 3 years he received an apprenticeship diploma. Frabel’s art has found large scale appreciation in the United States. In 1979 his sculpture “Hammer and Nails” was exhibited at the New Glass Art Exhibition, which elevated his status as a glass artist . This piece of art is currently in the National Building Museum at Washington D. C. Frabel’s works have now percolated to more than 80 countries across the world. Till the nineties, Frabel Studio, created art pieces in clear borosilicate, a strong, brilliant crystal that is resistant to scratches and if broken can be restored to near perfection. Since then, the artists of the Frabel Studio have used colors. Sculptures of the Frabel Studio are embossed with the trademarked “FS. The executing artist sculpts the piece entirely by hand, based on the model created by the designer. Hans Godo Frabel, was the first glass artist, honored with the title of Absolut Artist.
