An oil spill is the release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the environment,in marine areas and is a form of pollution. Oil spills may be due to releases of crude oil from tankers,off shore platforms,drilling rigs and wells.It also includes spills of refined petroleum products,heavier fuels used by large ships such as bunker fuel or the spill of any oily refuse or waste oil.Oil can enters the marine environment through the natural oil seeps. Oil spills are controlled by chemical dispersion, combustion, mechanical containment, and/or adsorption.Spills may take weeks,months or even years to clean.It is a tough operation. Designer Hsu Sean is working to create a Bio-Cleaner drone that degrades oil and at the same time protect the marine life. Several drones are dropped in the affected area. The bacteria in the drone degrades the oil. Lets wait for this ambitious project to succeed. Please see the video.
