Bizarre Anatomical Sculptures

Posted by Deepika singh on 29 Jul 2011 01:21 PM

These incredible sculptures are the work of Canadian artist Maskull Lasserre who deftly extracts the most delicate anatomical forms of humans and animals from common objects. His talent resides in his ability to carve human or animal body parts like the skeleton of the human head, the spine or teeth directly into common wooden objects.
According to Maskull's website, “Lasserre’s drawings and sculptures explore unexpected potential of the everyday and its associated structures of authority, class and value. Elements of nostalgia, allegory, humor, and the macabre are incorporated into works that induce strangeness in the familiar, and provoke uncertainty in the expected."
