After working as a plumber for years Slawomir Weremkowicz a 59-year-old from Biala Podlaska, Poland creates functional bicycles using only wooden components. The main idea of constructing wooden bicycles is to focus on ecology and care for the cleanliness of the environment.
Slawomir uses simple woodcarving tools like chisels and saws to make his wooden bicycles. The seat, steering, even the pedals, chain and the screws are made only from a variety of wood (oak, ash, beech and plywood), Carving an entire wood bicycle is a lengthy process which takes about a year, but when he looks at his completed “wooden dinosaurs”, Slawomir doesn’t regret the time he puts into his work.
