The Japanese have created a life sized Tachikoma robot one in which one can actually travel. The cocoon shaped vehicle has a camera on the outside that projects the view on the spherical cockpit inside. As seen in the video it can be controlled by a joystick. This can currently accommodate a medium sized passenger of about 60 kg. Please see the video.
